From the very beginning, we’ve believed that ensuring aid reaches those who truly need it is really important, and that means building partnerships with trusted individuals and organisations on the ground in Ukraine, Malawi and Zambia.
Transparency isn’t just a nice idea, it’s essential. I want every donor and supporter to know that their generosity is making a real difference, and to be confident that their donation is being used wisely and faithfully.
That’s why I’ve recently introduced a basic tracking system for many of our aid items. Each labelled package receives a unique ID number, allowing us to trace its journey from our hands to its final destination. Working with our partners in Ukraine, we’ve arranged for photos of items being distributed, giving us visual confirmation that they’ve reached those in need.
It’s a simple system, but one that builds trust and accountability, both with our partners and with everyone who donates.
Over the past few weeks, I was delighted to spot some of our labelled Tena pads appearing in photos from our partners in frontline regions, a wonderful confirmation that this effort is working.
From Lisburn to Sumy
A while ago, my parents collected a batch of Tena pads from a kind donor in Lisburn. These were the very first items to be given tracking IDs, and now they’ve been distributed to a teenage boy with cerebral palsy living in the Sumy region.
From Coleraine To Sumy
Not long after, I was delighted to see another photo from Sumy, showing Tena pads donated by the Cancer Focus Northern Ireland charity shop in Coleraine, transported to Belfast by Lynas Foodservice, sent from Ballynahinch Baptist Church, and being distributed to members of the congregation of the House of the Gospel Church in Sumy (Суми in Ukrainian).
Moments like these remind me why this work matters so much. They show that care and integrity go hand in hand, and that when we take the time to do things properly, every act of generosity can reach its full potential.
In Scripture, God calls us to be faithful stewards of what He entrusts to us, to act with honesty, diligence, and integrity in all things. Whether handling finances, donations, or opportunities to serve, He values a heart that can be trusted. My prayer is that Burden Into Action will always reflect that, walking in integrity, building trust, and glorifying God through every act of service.
I’m so thankful to the individual from Lisburn, the staff at CFNI Coleraine and my former colleagues at Lynas Foodservice, without whom this wouldn’t be possible!
