One of the most humbling parts of this ministry is seeing how God continues to work through His people in the hardest and most dangerous circumstances. Each week, our partners in Sumy, Ukraine go out to minister in villages scattered across the region, often only a few miles from the front line, bringing not only aid, but the message of eternal hope found in Jesus Christ.
The 28th of October
On the 28th October, the team from Sumy set out once again, visiting the villages of Mykytivka, Zoryan, Knyazhychi and the town of Yampil.
That day, they saw the unmistakable hand of God at work in the hearts of those who listened. Tears flowed as the gospel was preached, testimonies were shared, and the team prayed with those whose hearts were heavy with pain. In Knyazhychi, a woman repented and asked the team to return, a precious reminder that even in the midst of war, God’s Word continues to bring life and hope.
Please pray for all those who heard the gospel that day, and for the team’s continued safety and boldness as they minister in these remote and often perilous places.
The 29th of October
The following day, the group travelled again to villages in the Yampil district, bringing both humanitarian aid and spiritual care. In one village, children gathered eagerly to listen to stories shared by our brother in Christ, Johan Bergen, simple stories, yet full of gospel truth.
In the final village they visited, many people came and listened intently to the sermons and testimonies. God opened hearts once again, and His Spirit moved among the people. Truly, only the power of God and the prayers of believers can bring transformation in such circumstances.
The next day, the team planned to hold four services in small villages nearby. But that morning, danger escalated. Due to the increased threat, they were unable to stop as planned. Instead, they unloaded food packages and pressed on with prayer, trusting the Lord’s leading.
Even in that tense situation, God gave them a special encounter. They met an elderly lady who repented, and the team spent time with her, praying, singing, and sharing comfort from God’s Word. What a beautiful glimpse of God’s mercy in the midst of chaos.
Reflection
These stories remind us that even in the darkness of war, the light of Christ still shines brightly. His compassion reaches into the darkest valleys, and His Word brings peace to the most troubled hearts.
“The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”
— Lamentations 3:22–23
Let us continue to pray for these faithful servants, for courage, safety, and spiritual strength, and for those they meet, that their hearts would be open to the saving grace of Christ.
